Assam-The Gateway to North East

Assam is located in northeastern part of India, south of the eastern Himalayas along the Brahmaputra and Barak Valley. Assam covers an area of 30,285 sq mi (78,440 km2). The state is bordered by Bhutan and the state of Arunachal Pradesh to the north; Nagaland and Manipur to the east; Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, and Bangladesh to the south; and West Bengal to the west.

The state is home to one-horned Indian rhinoceros along with the wild water buffalo, pygmy hog, tiger and various species of Asiatic birds. It provides one of the last wild habitats for the Asian Elephant. Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park which are World Heritage Sites are located in this state.

Assam is rich in natural resources, flora fauna. State has vibrant culture. Assamese Dance (Bihu), Assamese Food (Thali) and Assamese silk (Moonga) is widely know and appreciated.
