SHAKOMATO is an old historic tea plantation. This property earlier belonged to a British Company named James Warren & Company. From James Warren the property changed hands sometimes in the year 1960 & Mr. Jagdish Parshad became the owner.
A seasoned planter, Mr. Parshad is the Chairman of the Company and the current stewardship is in the able hand of her daughter Ms. Ruchira Parshad, the Managing Director of the company.

Shakomato
Shakomato Tea Estate is located in the North Bank of Assam.
“SHAKOMATO” is the name of a village. Entire tea plantation of Shakomato Tea Estate covers a wide area of lands spread over a number of villages that include Shakomato.
Per popular lore name SHAKOMATO traces its origin to a Japanese Soldier Mr. Shakamata who happened to be in this region sometimes during WW II when British Army was in combat with Japanese Royal Army. Mr. Shakamata stayed back after the war. Name of the village he settled in came to be associated with his name. Thus the name “SHAKOMATO”.
